ACF has partnered with the Mobile County Commission in past years to give citizens the opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous wastes that are prohibited in landfills.

According to the USEPA, it is estimated that each year the average U.S. household generates more than 20 pounds of household hazardous waste. Hazardous waste is waste that is corrosive or toxic or waste that can catch fire, react, or explode under certain conditions. Non-point source runoff from household lawn-care practices and incidental dumping by citizens into the coastal waters of the state have been identified as a major source of pollution.
